Released August, 2009
The Pros:Bass subwoofer is strong and effective. Strong throughout the low, mid and high ranges. Easy to set up, nothing complicated or tricky about them.
The Cons:Still can't create the same surround effects that a 5.1 system can.
The Bose CineMate GS Series II is a 2.1-channel surround sound system consisting of an interface module, 2 Gemstone speakers, and an Acoustimass woofer module. It utilizes Bose’s proprietary TrueSpace technology to deliver a surround-sound experience with deep-fitted lows and squealing-like highs.

At its core is the interface module, which includes analog and optical audio inputs for accepting transmissions directly from a television. Included also is a universal remote control built to in-fact control not just the unit, but also the attached television and any other components — such as a VCR or DVD player — attached to the television. Note also that the system features VideoStage 5, Digital 5.1, and DTS decoding—allowing it to handle the improved realism from 5.1-encoded DVDs, DBS, or HDTV.

#bose_cinemate_gs_series_ii Basically, what do you need to say. They are Bose speakers. Very impressive sound from little speakers with a very mellow base coming from the sub-woofer. I have always preferred the more accurate sound of two channel sterio to that of 5 channel "home theatre." The two speakers make surround sound, but more realistic to me. Flawless and so easy to install. I purchased this set also because I don't need a DVD player that comes with the next model up. I have a new LED TV and Blue Ray player and the three of them together are better than what I had hoped for.

#bose_cinemate_gs_series_ii This set doesn't decode DTS at all. I don't know where you got this from, bvut I just got a very bad surprise as it doesn't decode DTS. You need to downgrade to 2.1 before you can hear DTS encoded media, which is not so good, as you might understand. The difference is very high with e.g. Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding, as with that format, you still get a True Surround experience, while with the downgraded 2.1 you don't. So please be careful if you want to combine this set with a e.g. a Blu-Ray player pr a PS3.
