The RS 230 is a bookshelf speaker with 3 1/2" woofers that was released in the fall of 2010 along with the RS 260 6 1/2" woofer version in Boston Acoustics' Reflection Series. It is designed to be used either in a normal two channel stereo setup, or as side or front channels(in combination with the RS 223 center channel) in a multi-channel home theater system.

The construction is made of scratch resistant high gloss black lacquer finish and is covered with magnetic grilles which reduce audio interference for better sound imaging, and gold plated 5-way binding posts provide the necessary high quality connections for a range of speaker wire types including bare wire, spade connections, single and dual banana plugs and pins. Some proprietary technologies found in other Boston Acoustics speakers are found here as well such as EWB or 'Extended Wide Bandwidth' tweeter found in their VS line, MagnaGuard video shielding, Fiber Ceramic Copolymer Material or 'FCCM' woofers and Deep Channel Design. Includes a keyhole and an insert for optional Omnimount brackets for mounting multiple speakers.
