Unlike its peer, the PT800 only sports one subwoofer, but it’s a powerful 8” (versus 6”) shielded Titanium-alloyed inverted dome with a rubber surround and an EOS (Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal) Waveguide designed to evenly disperse high frequencies and output a more precise stereo imaging over a wider listening area. In addition, the PT800 boasts a 1” pure-Titanium, high-frequency, and ultralight tweeter that accurately reproduces lightning-fast sounds like cymbal crashes, yet is strong enough to purge distortion and ear fatigue. The PT800 also comes equipped with a 4” pure-Titanium inverted dome midrange configured to blend seamlessly alongside the titanium tweeters and offer nearly “perfect pistonic motion” that reduces the uncontrollable flexing typical to conventional cones and cancels unnecessary resonances, thereby resulting in a ruler-flat frequency response beyond the crossover point. The JBL PT800 is priced at $1279.99. Although expensive, several PT800s combined with a PC600 and an equivalent subwoofer has enough power to “truly rock one’s living room to pieces.”
