Logitech Harmony 900
$400.00
Released September, 2009
The Pros:Touchscreen display. IR blasters eliminate the need for line-of-sight use with certain IR-only home AV components. Slick aesthetic.
The Cons:High price. Not customizable enough for the price / poor for power users. Requires a PC with internet connection (as well as installation of software) to program.
The Logitech Harmony 900 is one of Logitech’s most advanced universal remote controls. It includes integrated Wireless RF technology, meaning that the days of aiming one’s remote at the TV are over.

Users can now access and control devices from up to 100’ feet away, through walls, doors, and closed cabinets. Included also is a full-color touch screen for easy, convenient one-touch access to entertainment. Instead of having to remember channel numbers, users can now scroll through channel icons instead. Its most touted feature is One-Click Control, which automatically turns on and configures the proper devices based on what a user wants to do—such as “Watch a DVD” or “Listen to a CD”. Note also that the Harmony 900 is rechargeable; after charging on a base, it can run for an entire week before it requires another boost.
