The Velodyne DLS-5000R subwoofer is a monster, both in size and sound. It has a large cabinet size, measuring 21" x 18.4" x 20.8". This large cabinet size is needed to house the large woofer size, measuring 15" in diameter.

To move such a large woofer, Velodyne made sure there was enough power to drive it above and beyond most people's needs. The force behind the woofer is a 1200watt Dynamic, 600watt Continuous amplifier. Due to the larger size of the subwoofer, there is no metal heatsink sticking out from the back, as the movement from the woofer is efficient cooling for the powerful amp. This helps to save space as it is quite large already. It comes with a small, compact remote with controls for volume, phase shift, a night mode, and 4 sound presets including Movies, R&B-Rock, Jazz-Classical, and Games. The subwoofer itself features an adjustable low-pass crossover from 40Hz-120Hz, as well as a "direct" setting that filters no frequencies up to the 250Hz cut off. This is all adjustable by means of a dial placed on the rear of the sub.
