"Yamaha's YST-SW315 is a very solid performer, with a sound that is full and strong, yet very accurate. The YST-SW315 features a substantial 270-watt amplifier powering a ten-inch driver, and it can easily be adjusted for movie or music playback.

Where to Buy

The amplifier has a continuously variable crossover filter to let you use the subwoofer only for the necessary frequencies, and a phase switch makes sure that the signal is in phase with the rest of your speakers. Unlike many subwoofers, the YST-SW315 is magnetically shielded, letting it be placed close to a television monitor.

The ten-inch long-throw driver is mounted in a downward firing configuration that provides an efficient use of power. There is a volume control as well, which is much more convenient than searching through menus on your A/V receiver to lower or raise the subwoofer level.

The YST-SW315 has an automatic on/off mode, turning the unit on when audio is detected and turning it off after a certain period of time with no signal. There are line-level and speaker-level inputs. This is a solid subwoofer, with features that make it easy to incorporate it into the rest of your sound system." - Consumer Guide Products

Advanced YST

Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so the speaker unit has a perfectly linear motion. Advanced YST helps to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance.

QD-Bass Technology

QD-Bass (Quatre Dispersion Bass) technology uses down-firing drivers with square, pyramid-shaped reflective plates to radiate the sound efficiently in four horizontal directions. The reflective plates negate any effects caused by the floor surface and reduce resonance between sound waves reflected from the floor and the unit.

ADVANCED ACTIVE SERVO TECHNOLOGY
Yamaha's Advanced Active Servo Technology is a complementary amplifier/speaker system utilizing negative impedance feedback in the amp and a Helmholtz resonator in the speaker to provide strong and accurate bass.
10-INCH DRIVER AND 250 WATT PWM AMPLIFIER*
High amplifier power assures enough power to deliver shattering movie theater-like bass effects, and the down firing 10-inch long stroke cone driver translates the power into clear bass sound. The PWM digital drive amplifier is extremely efficient and stable. The YST-SW315 has a frequency range of 20 to 160 Hz.
BASS SELECTOR
Yamaha's BASS (Bass Action Selector Switch) tailors the sub's output for video or music at the touch of a switch.
YAMAHA QD-Bass TECHNOLOGY
A Yamaha technology that uses a down firing driver to radiate the bass output more efficiently. Sound is radiated in all directions for greater impact.
MAGNETIC SHIELDING
The subwoofer is magnetically shielded so it can be placed near a TV monitor or receiver without degrading the picture.
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE HIGH-CUT FILTER
The user adjustable continuously variable high-cut filter sets the highest frequency the subwoofer will deliver. It can be set anywhere from 40 to 140 Hz. For instance, if the filter is set at 75 Hz, only frequencies 75 Hz or below will be delivered by the subwoofer. This allows the sub's output to be matched to the other speakers in the system and the room's acoustics for a seamless presentation.
VOLUME CONTROL
The volume control permits the perfect matching of the sub's output to the overall volume of the system.
SIGNAL SENSING ON/OFF
For convenience, the YST-SW315 has a signal sensing circuit. When the subwoofer detects an audio signal, it turns its power on. When it senses no signal for several minutes, it shuts itself off.
PHASE NORMAL/REVERSE SWITCH
Makes it easy to phase the subwoofer with the other speakers in your system.
DUAL INPUTS
Two sets of inputs allow the versatile subwoofer to accept either line level or speaker level input signals.
HEAVY-DUTY SPEAKER TERMINALS
Yamaha's three-way speaker terminals accept banana plug and a variety of other connectors, as well as speaker wire.
BLACK ASH FINISH
Handsome black ash finish blends in with room decor and complements many furnishing styles.
RIGID CABINET CONSTRUCTION
The YST-SW315's cabinet is constructed of thick MDF to increase rigidity and reduce vibration and resonance.
